As a Senior Database Administrator, the employee performs a complete range of information system database analyst assignments including, but not limited to, designing, developing, testing, and implementing database systems for DTMB Customer Services supporting DTMB, MCSC. This individual will be looked upon to provide technical support to other team members and evaluate new database solutions and technologies. Provide maintenance, support and assistance to specialist DBAs with installation and configuration of clustered database failover, database replication, and database backup solutions.
The DBA position is responsible for database administration, planning, troubleshooting, and system management for the Red Card (non-life threatening) Data Collection and Distribution (DCDS) and Time & Expense (T&E) combined statewide systems. It also is responsible for the M4 system. This Database Administrator is responsible for database integrity and usability of DCDS, T&E and M4. The person must be thoroughly knowledgeable of Oracle Relational Database management Systems, their support and administration, and also have a working knowledge of the UNIX operating system. The failure of any part of these systems would have negative statewide impact.
Required Education and Experience:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in computer science, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, or mathematics.
Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.
Alternate Education and Experience:
Possession of an associate’s degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis,computer programming, project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant, may be substituted for the education requirement.
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
